Computer-Assisted Bad Parenting
by Tom Bozzo
Still, neither of us (parents) loves the second track, Big Bird singing "ABC-DEF-GHI," between the theme song and Bob's incomparable "The People In Your Neighborhood." (Bob's repartee with the muppets between verses slays me every time. Really.) In fact, it really makes me long for Big Bird season.
The parental gears turn slowly, so it was only this morning that it dawned on me that we've been suffering through "ABC-DEF-GHI" for nothing: we can rip the CD in iTunes, create a Phantom Edit of the All-Time Favorites, and John will almost surely not notice the difference between the original PCM and the 192 Kbps AAC audio. Copyright lawyers, shut up.
If I haven't mentioned it before, John loves Sesame Street. Among other things, he likes listening to (which is to say, insists on hearing) the CD "Sesame Street Platinum All-Time Favorites" at breakfast, see below. There are far worse things he could be listening to, so we oblige him.
