Not All Rockets Are Created Equal

by Tom Bozzo

On a recent shopping expedition, A B and C reportedly asked a silly question:
Is it that boys need always to be playing with rocket toys?
As a matter of fact, yes.

Therefore, we should appreciate the good rockets and campaign to eliminate the bad rockets, which are far more expensive and yet almost completely useless.

P.S., belated happy blogiversaries to A and C.
Comments:
Thanks for the blogoversary wishes! I think questions can be asked even about "good rockets." All three of us are exremely pro-science. But unless you can demonstrate the direct utility of some of the space ventures (and oftentimes you can), can we really justify the billions of dollars, given that just pennies will purify water for a household in Africa, limiting sickness in a very direct way? Tough questions, not addressed perhaps because some people just like building sophisticated toys.
