Lunchtime Notes: What To Do Instead Of Watching Paint Dry

by Tom Bozzo

Watch the progress of the New Horizons spacecraft on its way to Pluto. The multiple views (looking "down" on the sun's north pole, and an oblique view) nicely illustrate its weird orbit.

As of the most recent reading (18:00 UTC, today), just 4.736 billion km to go.

The next real excitement will be next Feb. 28th, when it makes its closest approach to Jupiter — just around the corner, relatively speaking, in 795 million km.
Comments:
Ah, thank you. This will be much less messy than watching paint dry, at least in my house.
