What fraction of total U.S. net worth is held by the lower 50 percent of the wealth distribution, according to the most recent available data?

A: 2.5 percent.
Comments:
I've saved the paper to read later, when my headache has faded a bit more. But my first reaction to that statistic is simply to feel my jaw dropping.
 
I hear you, PS. Equally jaw-dropping is that the recent peak was all of 3.8 percent.
